Emergency services are provided within the City by the following departments.
Police Department
The Police Department is responsible for law enforcement, preserving peace, crime prevention, traffic control, and protection of civil rights and liberties.
Fire Department
The Fire Department is responsible for responding to fire and medical emergencies, as well as natural disasters and hazardous chemical emergencies. Prevention and education are key components of the Department's work. The Fire Department also oversees the 911 center.
911 Division
The 911 Division of the Fire Department is responsible for taking emergency 911 and non-emergency calls for Rockford and Winnebago County, including Loves Park and South Beloit.
